What is funded under the ECO4 grant?

There are several heating measures covered by the ECO4 scheme that aim to make your home much more energy efficient.

Looking at insulation first, the ECO4 scheme can provide the following measures for homes in the UK:

  • Non-condensing boiler upgraded to an A-rated boiler
  • Inefficient storage heaters upgraded to high heat retention storage heaters
  • Inefficient heating upgraded to air-source heat pumps
  • Wall insulation (cavity wall or solid insulation)
  • Loft or roof insulation
  • Ventilation
  • Heating controls
  • Solar PV systems

Who is eligible for the ECO4 scheme?

Thousands of households across the UK qualify for the ECO4 scheme. You, too, can qualify for ECO4 funding if you receive the following benefits:

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support (IS)

  • Housing Benefit

What is the ECO4 grant?

The ECO4 grant is a government-backed scheme that’s designed to fund the energy efficiency improvement of homes all over the UK. Households that receive financial support from the government are eligible for the ECO4 grant, which will provide a variety of options to improve the heat efficiency of their home.

How long can the process take?

The timeline for receiving support via the ECO4 scheme varies depending on a few factors. Generally, it can take several weeks, or even months, after your submission before you receive a review.

Once your application has been approved, a free survey of your home will be arranged. This should only take around 15 minutes.

Then, when everything has been arranged, the work on your home can be completed. This should take no longer than three days from start to finish.

How much money can I get from the ECO4 scheme?

Individual applicants can receive between £7000 and £20,000 worth of ECO4 grant funding. The amount you receive is based on factors such as property type, existing energy efficiency measures, and income.

In total, the ECO4 scheme has £4 billion of funding available. For eligible homeowners, it’s designed to cover 100% of the cost for inefficient homes.
